Lisbon, Portugal
We took an overnight train from San Sebastian to Lisbon. We arrived early the first morning and after a little discussion in the train station we found a place to stay for a few days. This is Marianne next to a fountain in the main square of the city.
TheLonely Planet's "Europe on a Shoestring" book was very handy at telling us places to go that weren't actually open or just plain didn't exist anymore. Marianne is currently threatening to send a letter to them. This book is not a light thing to lug around with you. So, this is a picture of a bar with great cheap sangria. Please note the abandoned look of it.
After the dissapointment of the gay bar with Sangria being closed we found ourselves in The Tequila Bar for a quick drink. This quick drink turned into a night-long session of salsa dancing with the Cuban staff.
A view of Lisbon from our first day. It was overcast for most of our trip and rained off and on.
Have you ever craved something so much that you are willing to eat a poor substitute in order to quench that craving? We really wanted Mexican food so we ate Doritos with a can of chopped tomatoes. It actually wasnt too terrible.
