Capri, Italy Part 2

This is a view from our balcony (I think). Capri was amazing and the weather was warm and sunny for most of the week.

This is hands down my favorite picture of Crystal that I took on our trip. Woo Hoo. Can we say, "Hottie"

I took this picture to show my brother Jason the sourist (can I use that word?) lemonade that I have ever tasted. I added sugar and still couldn't finish the sucker. It was basically straight lemon juice. My mouth waters just thinking about that drink. Yowser!

Crystal, Rania and I at our favorite restaurant in Capri. It overlooked the main square. The food was tasty and not too expensive. This meant that we dined there at least three of the seven nights. Please note that we are actually all dressed exactly alike. How did that happen?

Capri, Italy

So all in all Rome felt a bit like a bust. I was sick (still) and Crystal was hobbling around like a cripple. Our friend Rania, we met her in the hostel, had her passport, credit cards, cash etc. stolen so that by the time we left the city not one of us were sorry to say goodbye. My parents took pity on us and traded some of their Marriott Rewards points for us to have a decent place to stay and "recover" from our strenuous traveling. God Bless my parents. The next few pictures will show us in our very posh new environment.

The Colloseum

I thought that the Colloseum was fairly spectacular and therefore deserved it's very own post. Did you know that there used to be a giant tarp covering the top so that they could have gladiators compete year round? Craziness...

Below are a few pictures from our trip there including the cripple with two friends we met at the hostel (Rania and Gwen).

The M&J Hostel ~ Rome, Italy

The M&J Hostel was probably not the nicest place we could have stayed. It had a wonderful aroma of raw sewage and the staff weren't the nicest but we met a ton of really cool people.

How to eat cheap in Rome: Cook!

Gwen (Canada), Matt and Simon (Australia) and Crystal. Pasta and cheap wine... yummy...

St. Peter's Basillica

St. Peter's Basillica and Square are located next to the Vatican Museum. We headed over to see it after our museum tour. It turns out the Pope was there earlier in the day but we missed seeing him. Bummer.

There was a huge procession of priests while we were inside St Peters. We weren't sure why but the all came out and then started a service. It was very interesting to watch.

Vatican City

A couple of handy facts about Vatican City: 1. The last sunday of every month the museums are open to the public for free 2. On that Sunday it is strongly advised to go really early because every cheap tourist in the vicinity will be waiting in line (times vary between a 2-3 hour wait) 3. If possible have a gimp with you because you get to jump the cue and get a free wheelchair to use for the day. Woo Hoo!

The wheelchair lift that leads to the Sistine Chapel

The Sistine Chapel (or a small section) you weren't supposed to take pictures but Crystal was feeling rebellious
