Ashley's Trips

This blog initially began as a way for me to share my backpacking adventures through Europe with my friends and family back home. It continues to document my new adventures even though I have returned...

Sawgrass, The birthday trip

My family got together after the first of the year for my father's 60th birthday and my brother Ryan's 30th. It was a weekend filled with laughing, drinking, and betting...

For some reason, when we all get together bets have to be made. No one ever lets you win either. I remember once losing $10 to my father when I was little over a game of gin that we were playing and the stakes were a penny a point. I suppose the thrill of the bet these days lies mainly in the victory dance for the winner. We don't just win gracefully, oh no... there is taunting and cheering for days, even if it is just over a few bucks.

Here I am losing a few games of pool to the Jason/Dad team. I got cocky and double-or-nothing'd the bet. Outcome: I had to go to the ATM. I lost a grand total of $65

Here we are after playing mini-golf at the Resort's wooded putt-putt area. I could've lost up to $4.50 that day but instead came up slightly ahead and only had to pay out $1.80. Jason (in the middle) was the big winner for the day.

We had family portraits done on the beach this year for my dad's big birthday gift. This is just a picture of us fooling around after the photo shoot.

I'm not sure an explanation is necessary here... However, it was the same night I lost that pool game...

First night out back in Vegas...

I met Norina and some friends at Hannah's a few days after my return home. Santana was supposed to be having a surprise performance that night.

Scott and I talking, I think this was about the time that we were bonding over his friends pre-ripped jeans. What is the point of paying extra for holes in your pants? Perhaps I am just not trendy enough to understand such things...

And the adventure continues...

So I originally thought to myself that the adventure had ended once I stepped off that plane in Las Vegas from Frankfurt. That was it... no more fun, no more excitement, no more freedom. I have since decided that the "trips" website doesn't have to end just because I am finally back home after five months of travel. In fact, great things have happened since I've been back so I figured, why not post some of those pictures, thoughts or links to things that make me laugh. Plus, who is even looking at this website anymore? I suppose there is some freedom in that too.

My beagle by the fire on christmas morning. After all was said and done she actually remembered me and continues to follow me everywhere I go...

Crystal and Kevin back in the states with me for the holidays. We were over at Kristin and Johnny's new place.
